Goodbye Brooklyn Banks
Written by Oasis
Thursday, 01 July 2010 03:44

Ive confirmed with my own two eyes, the famed Brooklyn Banks is now fenced off and locked down in order to serve as the staging area for reconstruction of the Brooklyn bridge for the next five years. The world famous skate park was often called the greatest skate park in the world because "It wasn't supposed to be one". It also served as a regular spot for the New York Parkour community, and will always be special to us because it served as the site of our outdoor classes for many years. The banks were a real hard core no frills vibe, and I cant remember ever getting bothered by anyone for the years we spent training there. It wasn't the greatest are for training Parkour but it was one of the few places we were really free to do whatever we wanted, and some cops even admittedly wanted to join in. Im not exaggerating when I say that I am going to miss the banks, a lot.

Hey guys!!

Just letting everyone know about the Sanjuu family jam down in Pittsburg. A handful of members from NYPK will be making the trip down, but as always, the more the merrier. As of now A few of us are catching the 6:50am bus from penn station. It's about an 8 hour bus ride. Should be a huge turnout, an awesome jam, and a fun time all around. Wednesday Classes are back!
Written by Oasis
Tuesday, 29 June 2010 17:42

So we're reviving the Wednesday classes. While the Sunday classes will continue as usual at the Banks, the Wednesday classes will serve as a mid week conditioning and movement intensive. For an hour and a half, we will focus on mobility, flexibility and introduce progressive conditioning challenges. The Wednesday classes will eventually rotate locations from the Banks, to Bethesda, and other locations throughout the city. For the next few weeks the spots are limited to a total of 10. Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to reserve a spot, and ask any questions you might have. The cost of attendance is the same as it was last year, $15, and the classes will last an hour and a half, starting at 6:30PM.

This Wednesday (June 30th) will be the first session, the location is the Elevated Acre, since the banks are very possibly gone. Click here for the map.

PKNY Wrapped
Written by Oasis
Tuesday, 22 June 2010 20:23

PKNY wrapped up this Sunday night with the last of our guests heading home around midnight. It was a great jam and I want to thank all the awesome people that made it possible. Here's my write up of the jam, some of the other reps might fill in the holes that I wasn't around for.

So a few of us got an early start for PKNY, meeting up with a media crew to shoot a piece at Wagner early Friday afternoon, and the fun lasted for days. Theres always a special energy in the air during the national Jams. We wrapped the shoot, then met up with people to head out to Jesse's for the BBQ. We arrived at Jesse's to burgers hot dogs, and chicken fajitas, and all sorts of other foodage. Fun and games ensued, food was destroyed. I left for home, and a few folks stayed at Jesse's for the night.

Big Moves

Here's a nice video, which feels like a throwback to the days of big moves, as opposed to the tech/flow movement thats been huge lately. Im not saying you should go off and start taking huge drops! Im not.
